Evangelist in the heat of Africa. Large Territory.

The preacher Murray soon arrives.
Peel potatoes. Kill a bird.
Shows twice yearly Child. Now quickly.
Brings along the Living Word.

Papa swore he brought the Light
Papa, gone these past two years.
But you’ve handled change so bravely
With some praying and some tears.

Don’t you know the Preacher
Travels hard through heat and untamed beasts
That he might serve up in villages
Some of Godly breads and meats.

He will bless our humble sideboard.
And consume with happiness
Both our offering and our questions
Then he hits the trail, i guess.

Leaves behind some booklets handy
Thirty-one days filled with Grace.
Lord protect him in his wanderings
Til again he’s face to face.
