Gathering for Mom, October 16th

Bev Blair, nee Roberts, passed away peacefully at University Hospital on the second day of September. She was pre-deceased by husband Jack Blair in June of 2010. Surviving sons are Douglas of Kitchener and Scott of Toronto. Grandchildren are Lauren Hodgson and Jordan Blair (with Doug) and Jake Blair and Peter Blair (with Scott). Daughters-in-law are Hilary Blair and Zoe Adrian. Remembering also Kelly McConville, mother to Jake and Peter.

Bev was an enthusiastic and well humoured resident of Kensington Village Retirement Home in London. Previously a homemaker at 171 Regent Street for over 57 years. She had been past women’s President at Sunningdale Golf and Country Club and a key program leader at London Curling Club. She served many behind the scene roles for Tom Munro Sporting Goods, her husband’s enterprise in Downtown London.

Spiritual partnership with Colborne Street United Church and previously Robinson Memorial United Church.

Traveler with Jack to many memorable destinations worldwide.

Talented artist in oils. Backyard gardener. Singer of all the old show tunes. Wonderful baker of pastry items and desserts, thanks to Danish Aunts Mary Dawkins and Lillian Belcher. Always ready to smile and speak a cheerful word. As was the case with her Father Ken Roberts, veteran from World War One and Vimy Ridge. Thankful for her days over a span of 96 years.

Arrangements for a celebration of Life are set. Bev will be lifted high with love.

Only about 95 residents who love the wilderness and the various assignments of mink trapping tree felling clam picking halibut hauling octopus grabbing deer shooting plank trimming garden land clearing northern lights gazing etc. They realize the fullest meaning and worth of community. For example one guy hauls in halibut at 110 pounds. Couple of good meals for 15 families, He says. Fascinating to watch successive episodes.

This will help get you going young man. Have fun. Believe that undoubtedly you are getting the techniques. And pleasing some listeners. Behave with as much relaxed and smiling professionalism as you can muster. People will give you lots of credit. Oh yeah, they will. Now listen to this goal and example with a harp.
